Graham Phillip McCulloch, age 49 of Richardson, TX passed away Wednesday, June 30, 2021. He was born December 25, 1971 in Dallas, Texas to Andrew and Lillian Jean (Goodwin) McCulloch. A lifelong resident of Richardson, Texas he joined the Navy in his early 20's. His Naval career taking him all over the US and the World during his 10 years of service. He studied at the Naval Nuclear Power School in Ballston Spa, New York. Notably training in Nuclear Propulsion as a Plant Operator, serving as Chief Mechanical Operator on the Aircraft Carrier USS Harry S. Truman, the Lone Warrior; overseeing the production and supply of water and fuel. His faithful dedication to his Country was paramount and he fearlessly accepted his station and would have willingly gone down with the ship had it been necessary. His family recount his stories of bravery like escorting a nuclear missile, walking with his hand on it the whole way. He also served as a Naval fire fighter and was trained in rescue and recovery. His service took him through Yemen, Saudi Arabia, Greece and Turkey just to name a few. After the military he attended Devry University and later begin working for Fusion Labs in Dallas, Texas as an IT specialist and program writer for 503C organizations all around the world. He was kind and generous to every person he met. Gayla recalls a vacation trip to Washington DC where after walking through the park and observing the homeless there, he walked back and counted them all, then made his way to a grocery store buying meat, bread, fruit, breakfast bars and bottles of water and including two dollars with each sandwich he gave out that night.
He was a practical joker, fun loving; he enjoyed music, science, physics and engaging in all manner of intelligent conversation. If he didn’t know something about it, he researched it. He enjoyed travel, including a special and unforgettable 10 day trip with his mother-in-law. Graham was everyone’s hero and truest friend, honorable and was the perfect gentleman, even in his illness he never complained. He spoke to his mom every day and to his brothers several times a week. He will be remembered and missed by all who knew him and who were touched by this genuinely unique man and his mind. He made a mark and made a difference.
He is preceded in death by his father Andrew McCulloch.
He is survived by loving wife Gayla McCulloch of Richardson; mother Lillian Jean McCulloch of Richardson; brother Stuart McCulloch of Richardson; brother Andy and wife Lyndi McCulloch of Allen; nephew Ian McCulloch of Richardson; nephew Cameron and wife Taylor McCulloch of Richardson; nephew Destin Patterson of Granbury; stepdaughter Brittanie Loper of Richardson; mother-in-law Annette Paul of Richardson; brother-in-law Dean and wife Irina Patterson of Richardson; brother-in-law Jeffrey Patterson of Richardson; sister-in-law Kristin Goad of Granbury; four precious fur babies: Loki, Meatball, Dumplin and Biscuit; as well as numerous other extended family members and friends.
