Gloria Day Obituary

Gloria M. Day, passed away peacefully at the age of 92 on September 17, 2024 in Waxahachie, Texas. She was born in Waxahachie, Texas on January 21, 1932 to Jesse Scott and Leona Cox Scott. She was the eldest of three sisters, Margie Binford and Jean Miller Bell.

Her approach to life was direct; she was never one to shy away from speaking her mind, and she loved ever so fiercely. She is survived by her only child, Robert Day and his wife Cindy Day, granddaughter Lindsay Day, husband Justin Wilson and great grandsons Ashton (5) and Silas Wilson (2), and granddaughter Kristin Day Thompson, husband Travis Thompson, great grandson Brazos Thompson (7) and great granddaughter Tessa Thompson (2), who will remember her as a loving, strong-willed mother and grandmother with a personality that was truly one of a kind.

Gloria was always a lover of animals and nature and greatly enjoyed spending time in her yard, watching her busy bird feeders and bird baths and nurturing her plants and flowers. She also greatly enjoyed attending her granddaughters’ various activities, which she never missed, and was known by all (especially the referees). A few years after the death of her husband, Austin Fisher in September of 2004, Gloria moved from Glenn Heights, TX to her home in Red Oak. Gloria spent the last part of her career working for MPS Machinery for many happy years. After she retired, she enjoyed spending more time with her family and her pets. Gloria leaves behind a legacy of resilience and determination.

A visitation to remember Gloria will take place on September 26, 2024 from 5:00-7:00 PM at the Green Funeral Home 105 Vintage Dr., Red Oak, TX 75154. Friends and family are encouraged to share their stories and reflections during this time of remembrance.

In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made in Gloria's honor to SPCA of Texas Ellis County Animal Care Center by calling 214-461-1828 or online at spca.org/support-us. to further promote her love of animals and the positive impact she had on the rescue cats and dogs that she cared for throughout her lifetime.

Gloria Day  will be remembered for her unyielding spirit and the indelible mark she left on the lives of those around her.

May she forever rest in peace.
