beloved father, grandfather, and great-grandfather who brought joy and warmth to
everyone around him.
He was raised in the small town of Dinamita in Durango, Mexico before moving to Ferris in
1991, where he spent 35 years becoming a cherished member of the community. A
hardworking and dedicated individual, Gilberto worked in construction for many years
before eventually retiring. Known for his generosity and lively spirit, Gilberto was famous
for his exuberant 4th of July celebrations, complete with fireworks and cookouts that
delighted his family and friends.
Gilberto had a passion for model cars and trains, and his love for Pixar's Cars reflected his
childlike enthusiasm. His fascination with woodworking was matched only by his affection
for his grandchildren, for whom he often bought toys and indulged their imaginations. A
kid at heart, he always had an Elmo figure somewhere in or on his truck, a small but
constant reminder of his playful nature. His habit of fast talking often left his grandkids
asking him to slow down so they could understand, but his ability to make everyone feel
welcome and valued was unmatched. Gilberto never met a stranger and always wanted to
talk to every person he met. His kindness, dedication, and laughter will be missed by all
who had the privilege of knowing him.
