Freddy Joe Langford was born on December 19,1954 in Houston, Texas. Freddy Joe, as he was loving known by his family, was called home by our Lord Jesus Christ Tuesday, May 5, 2026.
If you wanted to understand Freddy, you didn’t have to look far, you just had to look at the people around him. Freddy was a father to many, a friend when you needed one, and someone people naturally looked up to. He was a loving husband, father, grandpa, son, brother… He wore so many different hats but wore them well.
He could be hardheaded and stubborn, but he always made sure the people around him had what they needed, sometimes at his own expense. When Freddy loved you, he loved you hard and unconditionally. There was nothing you could possibly do to change his mind about you. He loved you. And that was that.
Outside of work, Freddy found joy in life’s simple, meaningful things, especially those tied to the cowboy way of life he admired. By day, he was tending to his animals, guns, and various projects around his property, and by night, he could usually be found on the couch rewatching old westerns and tv shows with Audie Murphy for the millionth time.
Freddy dedicated 54 years of his life to the automotive parts industry. He began his career at Midway Auto Supply at just 16 years old, and by the age of 17, he was already managing his own store. He spent 25 years with Midway before continuing his work in the industry with several automotive supply companies, including City Garage, CarMax, and Pep Boys. Freddy ultimately concluded his career at O’Reilly Auto Parts, where he devoted 23 years of service.
Debbie and Freddy got married on July 6th, 1984 in Alice and Buddy’s house off of Bear Creek in Lancaster, Texas. They were married for 41 years.
He is preceded in death by his father John Milburn “Buddy” Langford.
He survived by his wife Debbie Langford; children: Denise and husband Duke Zinser, Lesley and husband Jason Russell, Chandra Tompkins and Jason Langford; grandchildren: Macey, Ashley, Payton and husband Dillon, Mallory, Lily, Luke and Ridge; great-grandchildren: RJ and Natalie; mother Alice Langford; brothers: Randy and wife Holly Langford and Jerry and wife Peggy Langford; as well as numerous nieces, nephews and other extended family members and dear friends.
Freddy’s legacy will live on in the hearts of all those whose lives he touched with his love, friendship and generosity. He will be greatly missed.
