Fred Andrew Pontley

Fred Andrew Pontley, age 88 of Ferris, Texas passed away December 19, 2022. He was born November 7, 1934 in Lake Charles, Louisiana to the late Fred C. and Willie Mae (Bazemore) Pontley. He grew up in Dallas, Texas and joined the US Navy at the age of 17 in 1952. After his service in the Navy he begin work with United States Postal Service, retiring in 1989. He later moved to Ferris, Texas in 1995. He enjoyed bowling in his earlier years and loved visiting various state parks with his camper, camping and fishing and enjoying his retirement. He was a very caring individual who loved and was very proud of his children and grandchildren. He was loved and adored by his church family at Fundamental Baptist Church in Palmer, Texas where he was a member for 11 years. He will be loved and missed by all who knew him.

He is preceded in death by his parents Fred and Willie Mae Pontley and daughter Deborah Pontley. 

He is survived by his wife Carol A. Pontley of Ferris, Texas; son Fred C. and wife Jackie Pontley of Ferris, Texas; daughter Marla Wolverton  and Rick Andreae of Clinton, Illinois and daughter Michelle and husband David Greenwell of Decatur, Illinois; grandchildren: Owen and wife Wendy Pontley of Ennis, Texas, Evan Pontley and fiance Tori Shelton of Ennis, Texas, Crystal and husband Carl Welch of Red Oak, Texas, Jeremy and wife Niki Randolph of Eagle Pass, Texas, Matthew Wolverton of Clinton, Illinois, Madison Wolverton of Pekin, Illinois, Clay Greenwell of Decatur, Illinois and Selah Greenwell of Decatur, Illinois; numerous great-grandchildren and many extended family members and friends.

Visitation will be 6:00 - 8:00 PM Monday, December 26, 2022 at Green Funeral Home Ferris, Texas.

Funeral service will be 10:00 AM Tuesday, December 27, 2022 at Fundamental Baptist Church in Palmer, Texas.

Interment will follow immediately at Restland Memorial Park Dallas, Texas.
