Frances “Sissy” (Claxton) Cunningham, age 86 of Ferris, Texas, passed away Wednesday, June 24, 2020. She was born in March of 1934 in Kaufman, Texas to the late Johnnie and Lela Bell (Garrett) Claxton. As a young woman, Frances gave her life to the Lord and learned to trust in His understanding and direction for her life. Proverbs 3:5-6. She attended and graduated from Ennis High school class of 1952. On April 16, 1955 she married the love of her life, Clifford Wayne Cunningham. Together and with their family, they loved to travel, taking several trips to Gulf Shores, Alabama and many other destinations. She enjoyed many outings to 85 Speedway, watching the stock car racing. She worked for many years at Marilyn Belts & Bags as quality control in Ferris, Texas. Frances was a fan of country music, including various Texas singers and songwriters, she was Jack Ingram’s biggest fan. She was the Matriarch of their family and loved spending time with and supported her family and cherished grandchildren. She will be missed by all who knew her.
She is preceded in death by her husband Clifford Wayne Cunningham; son Clifford Mark Cunningham; parents Johnnie and Lela Bell Claxton; siblings: Lela Mae Vick, Johnny Charles Claxton, Gladys Blackerby, Billie Morrow and Richard Claxton.
She is survived by her loving daughters: Vicky McManus, Mildred Goss and Sherri Shguit; grandchildren: Elizabeth and husband Kevin Rhoades, Donna and husband Dean Jones, Chuck and wife Mitzi McDonald, Crystal and husband William Pakula, Joseph McManus and John McManus; great-grandchildren: Alex and Taylor Rhoades, Justin and Mason Toberny, Emily Jones, Dartanyan and Myla McDonald and Noah Pakula; siblings: Shirley and husband Steve Allen and Larry and wife Mary Ann Claxton; as well as numerous other nieces, nephews and other extended family members and friends.
Memorial Service will be 11:00 AM, Saturday July 18, 2020 at the J Bar C Cowboy Church: 230 E. FM 813 Palmer, Texas 75152.
