Florrie "Jo" Lockmiller Obituary

Florrie “Jo” (Parish) Lockmiller, age 88 of Wilmer, Texas passed away November 11, 2022. She was born June 26, 1934 in Eureka, Texas to the late Thurman Hodge and Opal Birley (McCaslin) Parish.

She started her working career at Texas Instruments. She worked part-time at Sears many years as she split her time being a homemaker and raising her girls. She stayed at Sears for 25+ years, working and advancing in many different positions in the Regional Payroll Center. When she retired in 1997, she was a Supervisor in the Audit Recovery Department at Sears. Jo and her beloved husband Jack retired and spent many happy years together before he passed away in 2015.

Jo gave her heart to Jesus Christ, her Lord and Saviour, at an early age, and was a prayer warrior all her life. She loved to pray for all her family members to stay safe, protected and well, treating everyone with love and respect. Jo's favorite thing was visiting with her family and having an opportunity to talk to them on the phone. She loved to hear what was happening in each one of her family member's life. She would save and give newspaper clippings about something related to their lives; she could talk about things for hours and she would always tell them she was thinking about them and praying for them. She loved to hide ice cream in her freezer in the garage so her grandkids could have one when they visited her. Jo was a very generous lady.  Her visitors would end up with something to take home with them, which might be something she made herself, or something she had she wanted to give to them.  She is also remembered for making the best divinity and chocolate fudge.

Her favorite hobbies included: sewing, cooking for family, camping, fishing, reading, listening to religious and country music; and watching her Dallas Cowboys play football, always cheering them on to win.

Her laugh was wonderful and contagious.  For those that had the chance to know her, they would tell you she knew how to make you feel special and loved.

She is preceded in death by her father Thurman Parish and mother Opal Parish Brewer; husband Jack Lockmiller; daughter Crystol Birdwell; granddaughter Kristie Buchanan; and great-grandson Seth Stanford.

She is survived by daughter Marsha Buchanan and husband Tony of Rockett, Texas and daughter Remica Stanford and husband Bill of Mesquite, Texas; one brother Weldon Parish of Ft. Worth, Texas; five grandchildren: Deanna Birdwell of Ferris, Texas, Tripp Stanford and wife Jen of McKinney, Texas, Bobbie Jo Taylor and husband Bud of Ferris, Texas, Joshua Buchanan of Hanson, Kentucky and Shanna Miller of Frisco, Texas;  seven great-grandchildren: Kyler Martinez, Macie and Madilyn Miller, Erin and Grayson Stanford, Jaden and Riley Ramey; as well as numerous nieces, nephews and other extended family members and a host of friends.

A very special appreciation of gratitude to Mario who would always be available to help Jo day or night.
