Fidel Moya Obituary

Fidel Moya, a cherished father, devoted friend, and beloved member of the community, passed away on September 24, 2024, at the age of 86. Born on June 24, 1938, Fidel lived a life rich in laughter, hard work, and dedication to his family and faith.

Known affectionately for his grumpy demeanor and crude humor, Fidel had a knack for storytelling that brought smiles and laughter to those around him. He spent over 40 years as a skilled bricklayer in Ennis, TX, before dedicating the last 15 years of his career to maintaining the cemetery in Ferris, TX—a role he approached with the utmost respect and care.

An avid lover of the outdoors, Fidel was a passionate hunter, fisherman, and camper. He relished the time spent in nature, often cooking delicious meals from the game he brought home, much to the delight of his family. A workaholic at heart, he always found time for his true passions, including golfing and watching Westerns, with Clint Eastwood and John Wayne as his favorite actors.

Fidel was a devout member of the 7th Day Adventist Church in Waxahachie where he never missed a service, embodying a life of faith and community. His commitment to his beliefs was a guiding force in his life, and he was admired for his godly character.

A die-hard Dallas Cowboys fan, Fidel also had a keen interest in current events and could often be found catching up on the news. His strong work ethic, love for family, and unwavering faith made a lasting impact on all who knew him.

Fidel is preceded in death by his mother and father; his wife, Janie Tapia Moya; his sister, Esperanza “Hope” Moreno; and his son, Demetrias “Demo” Moya.

Fidel is survived by his children: Gloria Moya Holcomb, Patsy Moya Davis, Richard Moya, Chris Moya, Blanca Moya, and Belinda Schulze; his grandchildren: Fidel Jacob and wife Cecilia Moya, and Ashlie Schulze; 5 siblings whom he cared for deeply; and numerous aunts, uncles, and cousins.
