Ernesto Z. Charles, Sr., age 47 of Red Oak, Texas passed away July 29, 2023. He was born January 22, 1976 in Dallas, Texas to Jose Cruz Charles and Juanita Zarate. He grew up in the Oak Cliff area of Dallas and loved the sport of soccer, which continued all of his life. He met the love of his life Lorena Rebolloso in 1992 and they married September 27, 1997. He was often quick to remind everyone that his wife was always the most beautiful! To this Union was blessed four beautiful and amazing children. He loved his children and always supported their dreams. He coached the boys in soccer and even aspired to coach soccer professionally. He owned and operated his own trucking company and was an over the road truck driver, logging an unknown number of miles over the years. Most recently he served as an auto mechanic, fueling his love for working on old classic cars. Ernesto enjoyed many hours working on his favorite green GMC 1997 SideStep pickup truck. The family always enjoyed road trips to the Valley to visit family and friends. Ernesto also loved music and dancing and always looked forward to the annual family dinner to Joe’s Crab Shack for crab legs. His family will miss him cooking fajitas, fish and wings out on the grill. He always invited someone to come over and eat and just have a good time. Organizing the big family gatherings were his favorite. Ernesto enjoyed being outside working in his yard, Keeping it tidy and clean or just relaxing on the porch. He enjoyed watching baseball and boxing on TV, playing dominoes and the game of his own invention: Guess the Movie! Friends and family alike will miss his fun, energetic personality and the many jokes he told. Ernesto was a hard worker, dependable and could always be counted on. He adored his grandsons and was always so glad to see them and play with them. He will be missed by all who knew and loved him.
He is survived by his loving wife Lorena Charles of Red Oak; children: Feliciano “Felix” Charles and fiancé Wendy Perez of Red Oak, Alysa Charles and husband Cris Samaniego of Red Oak, Ernesto Charles, Jr., of Red Oak, and Rivelino “Revy” Charles of Red Oak; grandsons: Cris Elijah Samaniego and Luke “Mister” Samaniego; parents: Jose and Juanita Cruz Charles; siblings: Mary and husband Robert Hazen of Grand Prairie, Reynaldo and wife Betty Charles of Glenn Heights and Jose C. Jr. and wife Gina Charles of Waxahachie; as well as numerous nieces, nephews and other extended family members and friends.
Visitation will be 6:00 - 9:00 PM with Rosary at 7:00 PM Thursday, August 3, 2023 at Green Funeral Home Red Oak, Texas.
Mass of Christian Burial will be 2:00 PM Friday, August 4, 2023 at St. Joseph Catholic Church: 600 E. Marvin Ave. Waxahachie, Texas 75165
Interment to follow at Red Oak Cemetery.
