Elizabeth Gayton Obituary

Elizabeth Toscano (Sanchez) Gayton, age 62 of Dallas, Texas passed away November 1, 2024. She was born on December 7, 1961 to Domingo Sanchez, Sr. and Clemencia Toscano. A lifelong resident of Dallas, Elizabeth attended Carter High School before embarking on a fulfilling journey as a devoted mother and hard-working professional. Elizabeth was known for her strong work ethic, which she instilled in her four children. She spent several years as an apartment leasing agent, before dedicating 16 years of her career to social work at the Bethlehem Foundation, where she tirelessly served her community. Outspoken, blunt, straightforward, loud, and with an unmatched sense of humor, Her honesty and boldness were matched only by her love for her family, faith, and of good food. A devout Christian from a young age, she was a member of El Divino Salvador Presbyterian Church and later worshipped at Oak Cliff Presbyterian Church, where her love for the Lord was a guiding light in her life. An incredible cook, Elizabeth’s soul food and enchiladas and rice were staples at family holiday gatherings, where she brought people together with warmth, love, and laughter. She adored watching classic television shows like Perry Mason, The Twilight Zone, and Alfred Hitchcock Presents. Music was a major part of her life, with artists like Janis Joplin, Jimi Hendrix, and George Clinton filling her home with their timeless sounds.

Elizabeth had a deep love for animals, especially her beloved cat Bruce. Her family will always remember her random morning noises, her playful use of nicknames, and her foxy phone voice. She was a woman of compassion, forgiveness, and generosity, whose presence will be deeply missed. Elizabeth leaves behind a legacy of love, laughter, and strength that will continue to inspire all who knew her.

She is preceded in death by her parents, Domingo, Sr. and Clemencia Sanchez; brother Joe Sanchez; and brother-in-law Mathias Castillo, Jr.

She is survived by her four children: Anthony Gayton, Jr., Donald Ray Young, Jr. and fiancé Cleopatra Valdez, Donovan Ray Young and DeLaina Marie Young; eight grandchildren: Jaxen DeAngelo Gayton, Jasen DeAnthony Gayton, Sunny Young, Hailey Young, Jewel Duncan, Laila Valdez, Amere Valdez and Lala Valdez; sister Christine Castillo; brother Domingo, Jr. and wife Sylvia Sanchez; and many other extended family members and dear friends, all of whom she cherished deeply.
