The oldest of seven children, he is affectionately known as the rock of the family. Growing up in North Carolina he met the love of his life Debbie Richmond at a church Easter banquet and it was love at first sight.  They begin dating and later became engaged and married in September of 1976. He began pastoring and enjoyed his ministry In North Richland Hills, Texas until retiring in 1992, when he began his work as a maintenance manager for the Waxahachie Independent School District for 12 years then making his way to What-A-Burger as regional facility manager. He was passionate for his work, working two jobs most of his life. He was extremely mechanically inclined and he could fix anything: cars, air conditioners and clocks of all kinds. His family fondly remembers family trips to Branson, Missouri, Colorado and to Mesa Verde in New Mexico where as a child, Karen was fascinated with the sand lizards. He loved music, singing, playing the guitar and drums. He was an accomplished steel guitar player, which he picked up at the age of 50. Proving his ability to do whatever he set his mind to.
