Douglas Clark, III Obituary

Douglas Bassett Clark III, beloved husband, father, PeePaw, brother, uncle, and friend passed away on August 26, 2024, at the age of 72. Born on December 6, 1951, in Cleveland, Ohio to Douglas Clark Jr. and Kathryn Dow, Douglas’s life journey took him from his roots in the Midwest to a legacy of love, service, and joy in the great state of Texas.

After graduating from San Angelo Central High School, Douglas served with distinction in the U.S. Navy for four years, a chapter of his life marked by dedication and camaraderie. Following his military service, he pursued higher education at Angelo State University, where he earned a Bachelor of Science degree. Douglas embarked on a successful career in asset and property management, demonstrating a keen eye for business, a quality which was evident in his entrepreneurial ventures later in life. Douglas was an active member of Pathway Baptist Church in Waxahachie, where he served on the security team with the same dedication he applied to all facets of his life. His faith was a cornerstone of his existence, guiding his actions and interactions with grace and integrity.

Douglas’s passion for cycling emerged in the 1990s, leading him to compete in national and world track bicycling championships. His dedication to the sport was matched only by his zest for life, which was vividly displayed in his role as "Peepaw" to his grandchildren. Douglas's playful nature was a source of immense joy; memories of throwing his grandkids across the pool and making waves with a boogie board showcase a childlike heart and knack for being a troublemaker. A devoted family man, Douglas’s love for his kin knew no bounds. His famous bear hugs were a signature expression of his affection, making everyone he encountered feel special. His outgoing personality meant he never met a stranger and his love for people was evident in his genuine connections with all who crossed his path.

Douglas is preceded in death by his parents Douglas Clark Jr. and Kathryn Clark, his sister Katie Clark-Perez, and his daughter Dawn Pendarvis.

Douglas is survived by his devoted wife Billie Clark; his children: Doug Clark and wife Becky, Christina Peteet and husband Mark, Lori Roberts and husband Christopher, Jeff Pendarvis and wife Amy; his sisters: Bunny, Paula, and Drew; his grandchildren: Savannah Peteet, Ella Pendarvis, Burton Pendarvis, Kaysen Jonas, George Pendarvis, Archer Peteet, Kayleigh Jonas, and Scarlette Roberts; and many wonderful nieces and nephews.
