Dorothy Marie (Hackett) Whitner age 75 of Wilmer, Texas passed away July 21, 2023. She was born February 7, 1948 in Bakersfield, California to the late Howard Leroy and Myrtle Evie (Dudley) Hackett. She grew up on the West Coast and after High School she married the love of her life Homer Emerson Whitner in Carson City, Nevada. They later begin their family with two children; she was a loving and dedicated wife, mother and homemaker. Dorothy always enjoyed sewing clothing for special occasions. In the early years, the family took numerous trips coast to coast, visiting friends and family all along the way. She loved fishing and being in the outdoors near the water and loved various kinds of music including: Elvis, The Supremes and The Pointer Sisters, just a name a few. The stories she told about family members that no one knew or remembered will be missed; this was her special way of connecting her family to their past. Dorothy’s special greetings and songs on birthday’s will be especially missed.
She is preceded in death by her parents and husband Homer Emerson Whitner.
She is survived by her daughter Latrica and husband Chad Schnepf of Grain Valley, Missouri; son Homer Jeffrey Whitner of San Antonio, Texas; grandchildren: Shade, Hunter, Karena and Cailyn; great-grandchild Shaelyn; sister Margaret Petta of Red Oak, Texas and brother Richard Hackett of Seagoville, Texas; as well as her nieces, nephews and other extended family members and friends.
Memorial Service will be 11:00 AM Tuesday, July 25, 2023 at Green Funeral Home Ferris, Texas.
