Donald "Poochie" House, Sr. Obituary

Donald "Poochie" Ray House, Sr., age 67, passed away on August 11, 2024. He was born on September 30, 1956 in Dallas, Texas to Gerald Thomas House, Sr. and Juanita Maxine Light. Poochie, as he was affectionately called by his father, spent his childhood in Ferris, Texas where he attended school, married, and started his family. Throughout his life he worked various jobs before finding his place in the Local Union Teamsters #745. His career led him to work on numerous movie and television sets, including notable productions like Walker, Texas Ranger and Dallas. On these sets, he served as a personal driver to the Actors and was responsible for transporting equipment and other set-related items. Poochie was a man of many passions. He was deeply interested in politics, always eager to discuss and debate current issues. A natural tinkerer, he also loved working on cars and electronics and creating things with his hands through woodworking. He was known for his unique ability to see things from different perspectives and often voiced the thoughts that others kept to themselves. His out-of-the-box thinking made him stand out in any crowd. Poochie enjoyed visiting casinos, especially WinStar in Oklahoma, but he also enjoyed numerous trips to Las Vegas and Shreveport. He had a particular fondness for high stake gambling, scratch-offs, and the lottery. In the past he also enjoyed grilling and was well-remembered for his delicious cheese dip and fudge. He will be missed by his family, friends, and all who had the pleasure of knowing him.
He is preceded in death by his parents Gerald and Juanita House; and brother Gerald “Jerry” Thomas, Jr.
He is survived by his son Donald Ray House, Jr. of Palmer, Texas; daughter Angela Michelle House of Palmer, Texas; their mother Mary Sparks of Rockwall, Texas; five grandchildren: Charles, Ashlee, Trey, Jacob and Emma; five great-grandchildren: McKenna, Hayden, Cambrie, Kynlee and Emily; brother Rickey House of Ferris, Texas; brother James and wife Pam House of Palmer, Texas and sister Linda and husband Tim White of Palmer, Texas; as well as numerous cousins, nieces and nephews.
