Donald Clevenger Obituary

Donald “Don” Gene Clevenger went home to be with the Lord on July 22, 2024. Don was born on April 6th, 1959, in Pratt, Kansas, the son of Dallas and Carol Prather Clevenger, stepmother Charlene Clevenger.  He was the second born of identical twins. He graduated from Pratt Senior High School in 1978. Don then attended Southwestern Assemblies of God University in Waxahachie, TX. Graduating May 1983 with a Bachelor of Science Degree in Biblical Theology & Pastoral Ministry. He met his wife, Mary Helen Loya, at Southwestern Assemblies of God University. They were married on August 2, 1980 in Abilene. Don and Mary Helen pastored churches in Kansas and Texas. He pastored First Assembly of God Church in Albany for 23 yrs. and then New Beginnings Church for 4 yrs. They moved to Red Oak, TX. in June 2017. Don was also a staff Chaplain at Hendrick Medical Center for 20 yrs. He also worked for Elliott-Hamil Funeral Home for one year and Godfrey-Neese Funeral Home in Albany for more than 20 yrs.

Don was preceded in death by his mother, Carol; father, Dallas; stepmother, Charlene Clevenger Kennedy; Identical twin-Brother, Ronald; Brother, Randy; stepbrother, David Eubank.

Don is survived by his wife, Mary Helen of Red Oak, TX; son, Rev. Joshua L. Clevenger and wife Jami of Booker, TX; daughter, Misty D. Young and husband Ezzard Young Jr. of Palmer TX; son, Donovan D. Clevenger and wife, Kirstie of Shallowater, TX; sister, Genevieve M. Clevenger Kloefkorn and husband, Alan of Harriman, TN; stepsister, Lynda Eubank Farmer of Ruidoso, NM; grandchildren, Haylee, Elijah, and Dax Clevenger; Jacob, Kaleb, and Isaac Young; Harper, Kase, and Owen Clevenger; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Memorial Service will be Sunday, August 4, 2024 at the First Baptist Church of Albany: 109 N. Main St. Albany, Texas 76430; Rev. Dr. Mark Shell officiating.
