Deon Grandon

Dennis “Deon” Grandon, age 60, of Ferris, Texas passed away April 7th, 2023. Born on July 3rd, 1962, in Lovington, New Mexico to William Howard Grandon and Dorothy Jean Drewery, he was one of four
sons. With Deon’s father being a preacher, the family moved around a bit when he was younger, and later went on to graduate high school in 1980 from Coahoma High School in Coahoma, Texas. It was
there that, in his sophomore year, Deon met the girl that would later become the love of his life and wife of 36 years, Tammie Rae. The two shared their first kiss on Deon’s 16th birthday. After high school,
he attended Howard College in Big Spring, Texas. While he worked as a draftsman for 21 years with Trinity Industries, and as a farmer for 15 years at Scott Born Farms, Deon always felt that his true calling
was photography. Knowing this, he made the decision to open his own company, Deon Grandon Photography, in Ferris, Texas. Deon had raw talent in the arts and was great at pencil sketching. He
always carried a bag with him; It started with his mother’s pocketbook that he called his “doctor bag”, that then evolved to his camera bag as his business and passions grew. Deon loved his 1972 Chevy truck and was so skilled in navigation that he could give turn by turn directions from memory from a very young age. Above all Deon loved the Lord and welcomed Him into his life at a very early age. Deon was always happy and lighthearted, so much so that he was known as the class clown in school. He had a servant’s heart, meaning that he was always willing to help wherever he was needed. He had a love for children, raising two wonderful kids who were the joy of his life and was later blessed with his most treasured name, Papa, to his adored grandson, Declan. He was known by the children at his church as
Uncle D and even Grandpa D. He loved his family and friends and could often be found visiting with them. Deon’s love showed most with his wife, Tammie. For their 25th wedding anniversary they renewed
their vows, where Tammie wore a beautiful white dress with encouragement from Deon. Finally after 36 years they of marriage they took a honeymoon to Big Bend National Park. He will be greatly missed by all that knew him.
Deon is preceded in death by his brother Bradley Jay Grandon.
He is survived by his wife Tammie Rae Grandon; children: William Stewart and wife Amy of Hurst, Texas, Karah Marae and husband David Buck of Bloomington, Indiana; grandson Declan Randal Buck; parents: Bill Grandon of Ferris, Texas, Dot Ditto of Big Spring, Texas; in-laws Bob and wife LaVelta Doolin of San Angelo, Texas; siblings: Billy and wife Kay Grandon of Ransom Canton, Texas, Steve and wife Rhonda Grandon of Rio Vista, Texas as well as numerous other family members and friends.

Visitation will be 6:00 - 8:00 PM Thursday, April 20, 2023 at Green Funeral Home Red Oak, Texas.

Funeral Service will be 12:00 PM Friday, April 21, 2023 at the Ferris Baptist Fellowship Ferris, Texas.

Interment will follow at the Dallas/Fort Worth National Cemetery Dallas, Texas.
