Thurza Delores Sonnenberg, age 78, formerly of Red Oak, TX, passed away January 5, 2021.
Delores, as she was known by friends and family, was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. She attended high school in Ferris, TX, and received her degree in Accounting from the University of North Texas. Notably, she worked at the executive level for two family businesses in the Dallas area: General Corporation and Sonntex. She was a longtime member of Ovilla United Methodist Church of Red Oak.
Delores had many talents and attributes. She was highly regarded for her wise counsel, thoughtful guidance, and easy way of putting the needs of others above her own. She had remarkable skills as a seamstress and maker of homemade pies. Her sense of humor and endearing laughter will be missed.
Delores is preceded in death by her parents, Winston and Margie Kelley; brother, Walter Kelley, and eldest son, Walter “Chip” Sonnenberg.
She is survived by her husband of 57 years, Walter Sonnenberg; her son, Kirk Sonnenberg and wife, Bronmin Shumway; daughter, Candace and husband Aaron Webb; Delores’ surviving grandchildren are: Jordan and husband Dustin White, Morgan and husband Blake Harvey, Ty Webb, Samantha Sonnenberg, and Landon Sonnenberg. Her great-grandchildren are Preston White and Harper White.
Due to COVID-19, funeral services are reserved for family.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests contributions be made in the name of Delores Sonnenberg to the American Cancer Society.
Funeral arrangements are under the direction of Green Funeral Home in Ferris, TX.
