With hearts full of love and gratitude, we celebrate the life of Delilah Ruth “Dood” Miller, who joyfully entered into the presence of her Lord and Savior on August 28, 2025. Born on November 4, 1945 in Sherman, Texas Delilah’s life was a beautiful reflection of faith, love, and grace.
Delilah shared 63 wonderful years with her devoted husband Jimmy Don “Donny” Miller. Together they created a home overflowing with warmth, hospitality, and faith. They found great joy in serving the Lord together through evangelism across the U.S. and in ministry at Life Tabernacle Church in Lancaster, Texas where he pastored for 23 years.
She delighted in being a devoted homemaker and loving mother to her sons, Kerry Miller and Tim Miller, and welcomed her daughter-in-law Kellie Miller with open arms and a loving heart. Nothing brought her greater joy than time spent with her grandchildren: Kirstie and Douglas DeFord, Kaitlin and Jason Berg, and Robin Miller; and her great-grandchildren: Avery, Emma, and Evelyn. Her family was her greatest treasure and she poured her love, protection, and prayers into each of them.
A woman of strong faith and devotion, Delilah poured her heart into studying the Word of God, which blossomed into writing devotionals filled with encouragement and truth. She was also a devoted family historian, and her treasured book, Cotton Patches and Patchwork Quilts, lovingly preserved her family’s history with honesty and beauty, capturing stories of resilience and faith for future generations.
Delilah lived her faith boldly, not only through her writing, but also through her worship, her words of encouragement, and her outspoken testimony of God’s goodness. She carried a deep desire to share the Word of God with everyone she met, and she did so with passion, conviction, and love. She lived her life with a song of praise to God in her heart, and she would sing out for us to hear and be blessed.
She is joyfully remembered by her sisters: Lynn Watson and Elisabeth Ann Malone, who closely shared her life’s journey. She now joins her parents David and Eunice Malone and eight deeply loved siblings in heaven, where we know she is rejoicing in the presence and love of her Savior, Jesus Christ.
Though we will miss her presence here, we rejoice in the extraordinary life she lived and the legacy of hope, faith, and love she leaves behind. Delilah’s life was a gift, and her spirit will continue to shine brightly in all who had the blessing of knowing her.
The family requests living plants in lieu of cut flowers in honor of Delilah’s passion for gardening and her joy in cultivating her home with life and greenery.
Graveside Service will be 11:00 AM Tuesday, September 2, 2025 at Sunnyside Cemetery 794 N. Water St. Savoy, Texas 75479 Rev. William Riley officiating.
