Danny Hill Obituary

Danny Alan Hill, 69, of Frisco, TX passed away on Wednesday September 4, 2024.  He was born on July 14, 1955, in Dallas, Texas to Eddie and Louise Hill of Oak Cliff.  He graduated from Carter High School and went on to graduate from Stephen F. Austin with a journalism degree.  Dan’s first foray into the news business would have been a paper route as a young boy.  In East Texas, Dan quickly became a local celebrity working as a radio personality in college, then appearing on the local news as a sportscaster, and later in editorial positions at the Lufkin Daily News and Longview News Journal.  While working at the newspaper, Rachel Garza caught his eye and became his sweetheart of 35 years.  The two married in Lufkin on May 19, 1990.  Soon thereafter, Dan moved back to the Dallas area to launch an extremely successful career in foundation repair sales where he will continue to be highly respected by his peers for years to come.

Dan had one word for his friends and family – yes.  Yes he could help, yes we could go together, yes he’s in on whatever plan was brewing.  He was fiercely loyal to not only his friends and family, but to his sports teams – Rangers and Cowboys at the top of that list.  He was the king of Scattegories and loved a good game night. Dan loved playing guitar and was proud of his collection.  He single-handedly kept many Tex Mex restaurants in business as a Friday wasn’t complete without the major food group of queso.  Dan loved to travel including Mexico, England, Spain, Portugal, Scotland, Virgin Islands and his dream trip to Bora Bora.  What brought Dan the most joy and mattered the most in the world were his kids and grandkids.  Seeing them happy with their families filled him with love.  So for every time you hear a Tom Petty song, raise a glass to the best guy anyone could have in their world. “Dilly Dilly” to a life well lived.

Dan is preceded in death by his parents Eddie and Louise Hill and his sister Toni Pash.  Dan is survived by his wife Rachel Hill and his two children, Hannah Sebastian (Kelly) of McKinney, TX and Jonathan Hill (Brittney) of Dallas, TX.  Forever “PawPaw,” Dan is also survived by his grandchildren Dominic Mungioli, Eden Sebastian, Evey Sebastian; Harrison Hill, Kennedy Hill, Barron Hill and Parker Hill.  He is also survived by his brother Terry Hill (Susan) of Dallas, and niece Carrie Hill of New York; nieces Wendy Watkins and Kim Boyd, and nephew Jason Prasifka.

A celebration of Dan’s life will be held at Park Cities Baptist Church on Friday, October 18, 2024 at 11am.
