Cynthia "Cindy" R. Sorrels

Cynthia Ruth “Cindy” (Jones) Sorrels, age 75 of Ferris, Texas passed away November 8, 2023. She was born January 3, 1948 in Corsicana, Texas to Ray and Norma (Hawthorne) Jones, and was the youngest of eight siblings. The family moved to Ferris, Texas where she attended school. She married her high school sweetheart and began her family. They lived in Houston until returning to Ferris in 1980. She worked several years for Marilyn Belts and Bags, and then began administrative work for Buckner International, where she helped countless children and families with food distribution and helped with an initiative called Shoes for Orphan Souls. In the early years, Cindy enjoyed music, dancing, and crocheting and is remembered for being a loving, giving and funny individual. Her laugh was contagious and could always be heard in a crowd. She was an avid reader, enjoying various types of books, especially romance novels, and greatly enjoyed her Hallmark movies. There were great trips with her children as well as several girls’ trips with her two best friends to the horse races and casinos. Cindy will be remembered for her kind heart and willingness to help when others couldn’t. She is loved and will be missed by all who knew her.

She is preceded in death by her parents Ray and Norma Jones, as well as five siblings.

She is survived by her children: Jeff and wife Karen Sorrels of Midlothian, Texas, and Kathy and husband Matt Sprouse of Zebulon, North Carolina; five grandchildren: Jordan, Trevor, Tatum, Tori, and Aidan; brother, Cal and wife Sandy Jones of Corpus Christi, Texas; as well as numerous nieces, nephews and other extended family members and dear friends.

Visitation will be 6:00 - 8:00 PM Tuesday, November 14, 2023 at Green Funeral Home Ferris, Texas.

Funeral service will be 11:00 AM Wednesday, November 15, 2023 at Green Funeral Home Ferris, Texas.

Interment will follow at the Myrtle Cemetery in Ennis, Texas.

Memorial contributions can be made to the Alzheimer's Association.
