Cynthia Kay (McDowell) Moon

Cynthia Kay (McDowell) Moon, age 71 of Ferris, Texas passed away peacefully on September 6, 2025. Born on July 12, 1954 in Ferris, Texas to Marion Monroe McDowell and Mattie Pauline McAnally. Cynthia was one of fourteen children in a large, loving family. She graduated from Ferris High School with the Class of 1974. In her early years Cynthia married and began her family, serving proudly as a military wife. Her life took her to Nebraska and other places before she returned home to Ferris, Texas where she would settle for the rest of her life. Cynthia’s faith was the cornerstone of her life. From a young age she trusted the Lord and recently rededicated her life to Him. She was a very spiritual person whose heart was full of love, resilience, and strength. She had a gift for creativity and found joy in baking, cake decorating, crafting, and needlepoint. Her greatest delight was being a grandmother. Cynthia loved her granddaughter Cade deeply and was always eager to share stories about her. She enjoyed traveling as she was able, including special trips to Oklahoma City to see the bombing memorial and visits to Galveston, Texas where she explored Moody Gardens. Though she struggled with health challenges throughout much of her life, Cynthia faced them with determination, strength of will, and a fighter’s spirit. Cynthia shared a special bond with her sister, Katherine Hamm, who poured love and care into her life and was always by her side. She will be remembered for her devotion to her family, her strong spirit, and the love she shared with all who knew her.

She is preceded in death by her parents: Marion and Pauline McDowell; siblings: William, Donnie, Carl, Christine, Barbara, Timothy and Paul.

She is survived by her siblings: Katherine Hamm, Bobby McDowell, Pamela Chavez, Jeanette Wold, Ernest McDowell and Everett McDowell; her husband; son Andrew and wife Kimberly Moon; granddaughter Cadence “Cade” Moon; as well as her “girls”, her nieces, nephews and many other extended family members and friends

Visitation will be 12:00 PM Friday, September 12, 2025 at Patrick Baptist Church -Ferris, Texas 

Funeral Service will be 1:00 PM Friday, September 12, 2025 at Patrick Baptist Church -Ferris, Texas. Pastor Emeritus Steve Hamm officiating.

Burial to follow at Ferris Memorial Park North -Ferris, Texas.
