Connie, 65, died unexpectedly June 24, 2026, at her home in Waxahachie, Texas. She was born October 10, 1960 in Decatur, Texas to Gilbert Ray Newton and Betty Lou Baird Newton. Connie graduated from Weatherford High School, Class of 1978. She served in the Air Force from 1980 to 1981. She was accepted into the Vocational Nursing Program at Hill Junior College in Hillsboro, Texas in 1983 and completed her Associates Nursing program at Navarro College in Waxahachie, Texas. She worked at various hospitals as an ER nurse and most recently was a Hospice nurse for Bristol Hospice. Colleagues and patients routinely commented how caring and professional she was. She took great pride in her nursing career, her friends, family and pets.
She was predeceased by her parents, Gilbert and Betty Newton. Surviving relatives include her daughter Catrina Kaye (Cat) McDowell, son-in-law Brent McDowell, grandson Adam McDowell of Waxahachie, son Curtis Wayland (Bo) Bradley of Abilene; brothers Sidney Newton (Linda) of Granbury, Glen Newton (Kay) of Colleyville, sister Susan Gray-Frank (Barry Marshall) of Stephenville, nieces and nephews, and great-nieces and great-nephews.
A service of remembrance will be held 11 a.m. Monday, July 13, 2026 at Green Funeral Home, Red Oak, Texas.
