Clifford Dale Miller, of Waxahachie, Texas, passed away on July 10, 2026, at the age of 83.
Cliff was born at home on January 3, 1943, in Highland Park, Michigan. He was the second youngest of seven children, five of which survived to adulthood. A lifelong learner with a deep love for chemistry, Clifford earned his B.S. at Wayne State, M.S at Washington U in St. Louis, and Ph D. from the U of KY along with postdoctoral studies in Germany. His special adeptness for teaching chemistry, physics and math shaped both his career and the lives of countless students. He served for many years as a college professor at DCCCD in Mt View, Dallas, and Southwestern AG U in Waxahachie. In addition to his academic work, Cliff was a Sunday School teacher on various occasions, sharing his faith and in-depth study of Scripture. In 1966, Cliff married the love of his life, Judie. They shared almost 60 years together while raising two children, working and navigating everyday life, and leaving a legacy that will continue through future generations. Those who knew Clifford will remember his humorous nature, antics and his dedication to caring for his family. He had a remarkable intellect, but he never took himself too seriously. He delighted in reading- especially C.S. Lewis, enjoyed silly puns and jokes, and could often be found working crossword puzzles or competing with himself on the daily Wordle. His quick wit and sense of humor often brought smiles to those around him.
He is preceded in death by his parents and his six siblings. Clifford is survived by two children (Joel and Beth), three grandchildren, one great-grandchild, and his many beloved nieces and nephews.
An intimate family memorial service celebrating Cliff's life is planned for August 6, 2026, a date made especially poignant as it would have marked the 60th wedding anniversary for Cliff and Judie. Family and friends are invited to send their personal and best humorous memories or gratitude memories for his family to share. (The TX mailing address is unchanged.)
