Chester Sherrard, Jr. Obituary

Chester Wade Sherrard, Jr., age 86 of Corsicana, Texas passed away on January 20, 2025. He was born June 12, 1938 in Dallas, Texas to Chester Wade Sherrard, Sr. and Mary Ellen Lookingbill. Chester graduated from Sunset High School June 1, 1956 and began a lifelong career as a truck driver, a profession he loved and proudly pursued until his retirement. Chester later met the love of his life Carolyn Sue Dixson, they were married May 8, 1967. A cowboy at heart, Chester found joy in his younger years riding horses and roping cattle. His passion for animals endured throughout his life as he cared for his cows, horses and all the animals on his farm. Chester often reminding his family: “Don’t forget to feed the cows.” He cherished spending time outdoors, especially fishing on the family pond with his great-grandson Brody. Chester enjoyed classic country music, especially the songs of Jeff Foxworthy, Chris LeDoux, and Johnny Cash. He also found contentment in the simple silence of the countryside. Chester was an avid football fan, cheering for both the Dallas Cowboys and the Kansas City Chiefs. His family fondly remembers the meals he prepared—steak and potatoes, and fried pork chops—and the warmth of his presence during gatherings. One cherished memory recalls a past Christmas when he playfully shot ornaments off the tree with a BB gun. Chester will be remembered for his generosity, kindness, and willingness to help anyone in need. Chester’s life was a testament to hard work, love, and joy found in the simple things. His memory will forever live on in the hearts of those who knew and loved him.

He is preceded in death by his parents Chester and Mary Sherrard; brother Jacky Wayne Sherrard and son James Christopher Sherrard.
