Charmaine Theresa Sorrell

Charmaine Sorrell, a proud native of Chicago, Illinois, was the loving daughter of Leroy and Leola Sorrell. She was a devoted mother to Whitney, Terrance, and Eric (her late son), and after her sister Patricia’s passing, she lovingly took on the role of mother to her niece Angelina.

Charmaine served with dedication for 26 years at the Cook County Sheriff's Correctional Department before retiring to Texas, where she embraced the warmth of the sun and cherished time with family and friends. A lifelong learner, she proudly earned her Master’s Degree, a reflection of her commitment to growth.

Family was everything to Charmaine. She adored her son-in-laws, Solomon Sr. (Angelina) and Garren (Whitney), her sister-in-law Esther (Grealdon), and De’Jhanice (Terrance’s partner). Her grandchildren Solomon Jr., Elliott, Garren II, Gavin, and Loni were the light of her life, lovingly calling her "Nana."

Charmaine is reunited in eternal rest with her parents and siblings, Leroy Jr., Patricia, Kevin, and Rhonda. She leaves behind a loving family, including Barbara, Grealdon (Esther), Michelle, Katrina (Kenneth), Margaret, Ricky Sr., and a host of nieces, nephews, relatives, and friends who will carry her memory with love. 

Visitation will be held at Green Funeral Home - Red Oak on Saturday, November 16, 2024 from 4:00 - 6:00 PM.
