Bobby Ray Prowse, age 84, of Ferris, Texas passed away May 3, 2025. He was born December 25, 1940, in Achille, Oklahoma to Cecil Prowse and Florence Crossland. After graduating from high school, Bobby earned a degree from Cedar Valley College and proudly served his country in the United States Army. He later married and began his family. Bobby worked for the United States Postal Service for 33 years until his retirement. Known for his generous spirit, Bobby had a heartfelt tradition of gifting birthday presents in one-dollar bills, one for each year; delighting children and adults alike with his thoughtful gesture. He had a sweet tooth for banana pudding and yogurt, and he never passed up a good game of dominoes. He could strike up a conversation with anyone, and if you made him a promise, you’d better keep it, as his word was gold, and he expected the same from others. He always gave from the heart. He will be dearly missed.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Cecil and Florence Prowse; his wife; daughter, Sandra, White, and sister Elizabeth Armstrong.
He survived by his son Douglas Prouse; his grandchildren and great-grandchildren; sister Mary Helen Kuhn; brother Larry Prowse; and longtime friend and caregiver Becky and husband David Ives.
A committal service at the DFW National Cemetery is planned for a later date.
