Bobby Joe Adams, beloved husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, brother, and friend, passed away peacefully on November 24, 2024, at the age of 89. He was born on January 23, 1935, in Palmer, Texas, to the late Harvey Joe Adams and Barbara Smith.
Bobby’s life was defined by his deep faith, his love for his family, and his genuine kindness toward everyone he met. He earned a doctorate in theology, which guided his life as a devoted servant of God. A proud and loving husband to Lillie (McIntosh) Adams until her passing, Bobby was a dedicated family man who took great joy in supporting his children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. He never missed an event, always present to cheer on his loved ones with boundless enthusiasm.
A man of faith, Bobby was known for his visits to members of his congregation, bringing comfort and encouragement to those in need. His love for people was evident in his approach to life—he truly never met a stranger and had a remarkable ability to make others feel valued and understood. Bobby saw the good in everyone and aimed to leave the world a better place than he found it.
Bobby’s love for his family extended to countless moments spent enjoying time together, especially at his home pool, where laughter and joy filled the air as his family swam and celebrated life. His support was unwavering, and his pride in his family was unmatched.
For 30 years, Bobby operated ABC Catering, a business that became a cornerstone of his life. His son continued to carry on this legacy, ensuring Bobby’s hard work and dedication live on through future generations.
Bobby was also passionate about sports, especially anything related to the Texas Rangers and Texas A&M. He found joy in cheering for his teams, but nothing brought him greater joy than spending time with his family, who were his true source of pride.
Bobby is preceded in death by his parents, Harvey and Barbara Adams; his wife, Lillie Adams; and his daughter, Darlene Manning.
He is survived by his son, Donnie Joe Adams and wife Kelly; his son-in-law, Kurt Manning; his grandchildren: Jason Adams and wife Cassie, Tiffany Manning, Jeremy Adams, Nicholas Gallagher and wife Sabrina; his great-grandchildren: Nathan Adams, Addie Adams, and Madison Gallagher; his sisters: Martha Ann Gideon and Mary Ellen Cook, and many other extended family members and friends.
