Billy Vaughn Watkins, age 66, of Surfside, Texas, passed away on July 13, 2023. Born in Waxahachie, Texas to Raymond Lester and Barbara Lee (Pritchett) Watkins, he was the oldest of three children. Billy Vaughn was a graduate of Red Oak High School class of 1975. After graduation he went straight to work in the construction field as a Mason. Born and raised in Ellis County he was well known for his horticulturist skills, always having the best quality plants. You could spot Billy driving around Ellis County picking up his friends to help him with his plant growing in his Gremlin with his known “Don’t have a care” attitude. His mother affectionately remembers him as being her problem child with a very strong-willed personality. Billy Vaughn loved his family and was very protective of them. He loved his Bud Light and later Keystone light beverages. Billy was a lovingly mean brother to his sister whom he nicknamed Taz. Billy could often be found hunting, fishing, or sunbathing working on his camel-colored tan after moving to Surfside 4 years ago. He enjoyed grilling shrimp on his back of the truck special Blackstone grill. He was an avid collector of guns, knives, and beer steins. Billy was very artistic and smart. He once held a job where he customized vans with shag carpeting. It was there that he was able to really let his talents shine. You would never see Billy without his left ear diamond stud or his gold chain. He will be missed by all that knew and loved him.
Billy Vaughn is preceded in death by his dad and one sister: Beckie Jo Watkins.
He is survived by his children: Ashley of Waxahachie, Texas, Justin and spouse Cheyanne of Waxahachie, Texas, and Harley of Kingsland, Texas; his mom Barbara Lee Watkins of Red Oak, Texas; six grandchildren; his sisters: Tracey and Robert Estrada of Red Oak, Texas, Hollie Berry of Round Rock, Texas as well as a fur legged friend Yager.
A memorial celebration is planned for August 12, 2023, at Green Funeral Home Red Oak, Texas @ 12 Noon. This will be a come and go celebration to honor Billy Vaughn.
