Billie Jean (Franks) Hawley, age 77 of Wilmer, Texas passed away June 21, 2021. She was born on January 6, 1944 to the late Otis and Jesse Geneva (Wedgeworth) Franks. The family moved to Dallas where she attended school. A dedicated Christian, she was saved as a young woman. She met the love of her life Hiram Rowland in 1958 and the two were married in 1977 then moved to Wilmer. He passed in 1986. Considered the strong one of the family, she stood steadfast over the years, ready to help and support anyone in need. Her family remembers many holidays passed, when she hosted and always cooked a huge meal. Billie’s cooking was legendary: her fried chicken, chicken and dumplings, carrot cake and banana pudding just to name a few, were her family’s favorites. As the wife of a truck driver, many time she rode along, together they covered 1,000,000 miles. She’ll be missed by her sweet Dachshund Missy, a pup she helped deliver, and by all who knew her.
She is preceded in death by her mother and father; husband Hiram Hawley; siblings: Marie, Irene, Catherine, Donald and James; Kenneth Rowland and Linda Watking.
She is survived by sons: Robert and wife Tina Rowland of Wilmer, William and wife Mandy Rowland of Terrell; grandchildren: Kenneth Rowland of Wilmer, Tabitha Miller of Wilmer and Michael Harris of Abilene; Sister-in-law Sue Franks of Mt. Vernon; as well as numerous nieces, nephews and other extended family members and friends.
Visitation will be 10:00 AM to 12:00 PM Friday, June 25 at Green Funeral Home Ferris, Texas.
Funeral service will be 12:00 PM Friday, June 25, 2021 at Green Funeral Home.
Interment to follow at Laurel land memorial park Dallas, Texas. Pastor Steve Hamm officiating.
