Betty Yvonne (Rackley) Strickland, age 83 of Bristol, Texas, passed away Sunday, September 6, 2020.She was born in Rankin, Texas in April of 1937 to the late Richard Aaron and Lillie Bell (Mooney) Rackley. A seamstress for many years, she loved to make clothes for her children and grandchildren. Yvonne's work has taken her many different places: from Dyes Air Force base, making alterations to countless military uniforms to projects by General Electric for NASA. She was a expert costumer, creating many custom period pieces for her customers all over the U.S. She was also skilled in jewelry making and upholstery, using many types of fabrics including rattlesnake hide and other materials for unique projects like a custom full-size and functional Tee Pee. Her family remembers and treasures the legacy she left in so many ways.
She is preceded in death by her parents; husband; three brothers and three sisters.
She is survived by her children: Glenda Sue and husband Gilbert Wulff of Bristol, Cindy and husband Danny Davis of Bristol, Terry Glen Loosier of Bristol and Lea Ellan Martin of Merkel; 12 grandchildren: Monica Casmedes, Brandy Miller, Cory Davis, David Davis, Stacie Mittendorf, Christopher Loosier, Justin Loosier, James Gray, Jessie Gray, Cristal Hollingsworth, Rachel Robertson and Richard Gray; 10 great-grandchildren; four great-great-grandchildren; three sisters: Gail Aldridge, Judy Wright and Jan Dohogne; as well as numerous nieces, nephews and other extended family members and friends.
A Celebration of Life is planned for a later date.
