Benjamin Franklin Lopez age 79 of Lancaster, Texas passed away April 22, 2023. He was born August 2, 1943 in Key West, Florida to the late Benjamin Robert and Florine Narile (Curry) Lopez. He grew up on the water and many times going fishing with his father. His family remember his stories of catching lobsters and selling them in town. He then served in the US Army, serving in Vietnam and driving an ambulance in Germany, transporting blood for the wounded troops. Upon his return, he married Ernestine Hernandez. He raised her nine children as his own and the two were blessed with two more children. After the military he began traveling for work, working on oil rigs and other heavy machinery projects. Upon his retirement, he began working in maintenance at the Dallas Museum of Art, until his retirement there. He was a family man and loved his dogs. He could often be found watching his favorite western movies or CNN. He loved hosting family get togethers and cooking, sometimes burning the food, but everyone was always grateful and enjoyed their time with him. He will be missed by all who knew him.
He is preceded in death by his parents: Benjamin and Florine Lopez; wife Ernestine Lopez and son Nelson Lee Lopez.
He is survived by his longtime companion Oralia J. Salas; daughter Ernestine Leona Lopez; and granddaughter Bailey Lopez.
Graveside service will be 1 :00 PM Saturday, April 29, 2023 at Ferris Memorial Park North Ferris, Texas.
