Beatrice (Battle) Strickland

Beatrice (Battle) Strickland, age 74 of Cedar Hill, Texas passed away peacefully on June 18, 2026.  Beloved daughter born to Alberta (Wright) Battle and Oscar Massey in Hearne, Texas.  Beatrice was an astute student during her formative years receiving multiple academic awards.  After relocating from Waxahachie, Texas to Dallas, Texas with her mother and siblings, Beatrice graduated from South Oak Cliff High School. There she achieved multiple academic mentions as well as being a Debate and Writing clubs member.  As a young beauty, she entered pageants and was chosen for Homecoming Court. Her sports of choice were tennis and swimming. She went on to acquire her Vocational Nursing license through El Centro College.  

Beatrice’s short marriage to Harold Jackson produced her one and only daughter, Kim. Thereafter she had three sons, Ray L. (deceased), Jason, and Rahji (deceased) through her loving 28 year marriage to Ray C. Griffin (deceased).  Beatrice remarried Thomas Lincoln resulting in his passing and final matrimony she is survived by husband, Gregory Strickland. 

Beatrice was an avid reader on multiple subjects, created poetry, unpublished short stories for family and friends. As an extreme animal lover, Beatrice afforded her children memorable experiences with trips to the zoo, parks, and a host of pets: birds, dogs, cats, a guinea pig, rabbit, baby chicks. She prepared baked goods and was a connoisseur of fine pastries. Beatrice loved music in many genres but country music was her favorite with Reba McIntire winning her heart. She believed the saying "Jesus was a country boy..." 

She enjoyed shopping for unusual finds with her sisters: Ruthie, Ruby, Hazel and Minnie. She enjoyed fellowship with her best friends Loretta, Carolyn O, Janice B, Annie, Palma, Beverly, Lisa and many more memorable relationships. Beatrice’s Church Sisterhood enriched her life through special trips and fellowship with Women of God: Sis Grace(deceased), Sis Janice, Sis Shephard, Sis Quinn, Sis Betty, Mother Lee and Missionary Campbell.

Beatrice is preceded in death by Ruthie Mae, Ruby Jewel, Fred Lee, Dan Jr., Minnie Faye and Willie.

She is survived by her husband Gregory Strickland, her daughter Kim Jackson and her son Jason Griffin. She was a loving grandmother to: Keiah, Isis, Ma’at, Rayven, Bobby and Jay Allen.  And great grandson, Khalil.
