Barrington Arnold Obituary

Barrington Carlyle Arnold gained his wings on July 6, 2024, at the young age of 71. He was born on November 3,1952 in Belize City, Belize, to Hersel Luther Arnold and Maude Edwina Bennett. Barry attended Ebenezer Primary School and worked at Bradley’s bottle factory before joining his family in Los Angeles, California. He led a remarkable life filled with dedication, service, and love.

In 1972, he graduated from Dorsey high school and enlisted in the United States Army shortly after. His military career was distinguished by service in the Gulf War and postings at Fort Lewis in Washington State and Garlstedt, West Germany. After 22 years, he concluded his dedicated military service with a retirement in Fort Carson, Colorado in 1994. Following his military retirement, he began his career with General Dynamics in Tabuk, Saudi Arabia as a contractor working for the Saudi Arabian government from 1995 to 2001. Barry then came back stateside where he pursued further education, earning two associate degrees. After attempting to work as a civilian, Barry found out rather quick that working as a civilian was not for him. In 2005 Barry then went back to work in Saudi Arabia until his retirement in 2023.

Despite his demanding career, he always made time for his family, frequently visiting home and enjoying family trips. In 2010 Barry relocated his family from Colorado Springs, Colorado to Ellenwood, Georgia, but 3 years later the family realized Georgia was not for them. Barry then relocated his family to what would be his final residence in Red Oak, Texas.

His hobbies included working on cars, trips to the casino, traveling, and in his later years he found his way to the kitchen cooking up some of his favorite dishes with the help of Gloria of course. Barry's personal life was just as vibrant as his professional one. Known for his humor and discipline, he was a natural-born leader and risk-taker. His love for music meant he was always humming a tune, and his favorite quote, “NO PROBLEM,” was a testament to his easygoing nature. He enjoyed getting pedicures, watching football, basketball, soccer, boxing and lastly his favorite WWE on TV.

His loud voice and commanding presence were balanced by a private side; he was a man of few words who enjoyed a good debate. Family was paramount to Barry. Married to his reliable better half of 39 years, Gloria Glenda (Galvez) Arnold, he was a very good providing husband and a generous soul who helped many . His grandchildren adored him, and he always gave everyone a nickname. Barry leaves behind a legacy of love, laughter, and leadership. His life was a testament to his passion for living, and he will be deeply missed by all who knew him.

He is preceded in death by his parents Hersel Arnold and Maude Bennett; son Ronald Cockrell; siblings: Hersel Arnold, Jr., Clive Arnold, Christopher Arnold and Alice Arnold.

He is survived by wife Gloria Arnold; children: Doris Arnold, Cassandra Arnold-Coleman and husband Abner Coleman, Joseph Arnold, D’Angelo Arnold and Natricia Arnold; grandchildren: David Arnold, Damarion Arnold, Stephon Valentin, Jaleal Coleman, Leilani Coleman, Dominic Arnold, Monte Arnold and Denver Arnold; siblings: Elva Dizaar, Herbert Flowers, Hurcellita Arnold, Dennis Arnold, Geraldine Myvett, Durala Miller, Ophelia Arnold, Albert Arnold, Douglas Arnold and Derrick Arnold; as well as a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
