Barbara Watkins Obituary

Barbara Lee (Pritchett) Watkins, age 85 of Red Oak, Texas passed away peacefully on June 11, 2026. She was born on July 17, 1940 in Dallas, Texas to Billy and Ruby (Bradley) Pritchett. A lifelong resident of the Red Oak community, Barbara attended Red Oak Independent School District throughout her school years and remained deeply connected to the town she loved. She met and married the love of her life, Raymond Lester Watkins on November 24, 1956 in Red Oak, Texas. In the 1970's, Barbara earned her real estate license and proudly worked alongside her husband, helping families find homes. Together, they also gave back to their community in a lasting way, generously donating land that would become Watkins Park, a place that continues to serve and bring joy to the people of Red Oak, Texas. Barbara devoted herself to her family as a loving wife, mother, grandmother, homemaker, and friend. She was a woman of strength and true character. She could be described as feisty and independent, yet warm-hearted and deeply compassionate. She welcomed everyone with kindness, generosity, and a quick wit that could brighten any room. She treasured time spent with those she loved and took great pride in being a devoted grandmother. Barbara found happiness in sewing, using her talents to play the piano, and cooking for family gatherings. The holiday season was especially dear to her heart, and she loved preparing meals while dancing to various kinds of music, notably the Trans-Siberian Orchestra. Her charitable spirit extended beyond her family. Neighborhood children fondly remember stopping by her home for ice cream and a friendly visit. She will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved her.

She is preceded in death by her husband Lester Watkins; her parents Billy and Ruby Pritchett; her daughter Beckie Watkins; her son Billy Watkins; and her brother Robert Pritchett, Jr.

She is survived by her loving daughters: Tracey and her husband Robert Estrada and Hollie Berry; her grandchildren: Aaron Wilson, Amber Johnson, Tracy Egglston, Kristi Estrada, Justin Watkins, Ashley Watkins, Mason Berry, Hayden Berry, Avery Berry and Harley Watkins; and her great-grandchildren: Abby Lascano, Joshua Lascano, Miles Johnson, Morgan Harris, Jordan Wilson, Cooper Watkins, Maeleigh Watkins, Whitleigh Watkins, Waylon Watkins, Pistal Watkins, Axle Watkins, Topher Paul, Presley Paul and Zen Paul.
