Barbara Featherston Conner, age 86, passed away peacefully on June 8, 2024. Born on February 8, 1938, in Bonnerdale, Arkansas, Barbara was the daughter of Lucion Featherston and Lorene Tidwell.
Barbara graduated from Caddo High School in Glenwood, Arkansas. Soon after, she married Don Conner, and together they started a beautiful family. They eventually moved to West Texas, where Barbara began her career with Southwestern Bell. The journey later took her to Dallas, Texas, where she transitioned to AT&T, serving with dedication until her retirement in 1962.
A devoted grandmother, Barbara took great joy in caring for her grandchildren, creating lasting bonds and cherished memories. She had a passion for genealogy, spending countless hours exploring her family's roots and preserving their history. Barbara was also an avid reader, with a particular fondness for romance paperbacks. Her adventures often led her to the vibrant casinos of Shreveport, Louisiana, where she enjoyed the thrill and excitement.
Known for her fun and sarcastic wit, Barbara was a loving, caring, and giving individual who touched the hearts of all who knew her. Her unwavering faith in the Lord was a cornerstone of her life, guiding her through all of life's journeys. Barbara's legacy of love, laughter, and generosity will continue to inspire all who had the privilege of knowing her.
She is preceded in death by her parents: Lucion Featherston and Lorene Sandell; brother Philip Featherston and former husband Don Conner.
Barbara is survived by her daughter Deven and husband Jim Kilgore of Mesquite, TX; brothers: Mitchel Featherston of Glenwood, Arknasas and Eddie Sandell of Lubbock, Texas; grandsons: Avian Lewis, Sr. and Avery Lewis; great-grandchildren: Avian Lewis, Jr., Aiden Lewis, Kason Lewis and Ethan Lewis.
A memorial to celebrate her life is planned for a later date.
