Arturo Perez, age 65, of Red Oak, Texas passed away on November 1, 2023, surrounded by his family. He was born in Tamaulipas, Mexico on June 11, 1958, to Manuel Perez and Delfina Covarrubias where he attended school and later graduated from high school, it was there that he met the love of his life, Consuelo "Chelito". The two were married in Mexico on December 26, 1982. After school Arturo moved to the United States where he began working in the Overhead Door business and eventually went on to truck driving. He retired from truck driving in 2021 after 39 years. It was then that he opened the family Taqueria, 983 Taqueria, that just celebrated its 5th anniversary in August. Arturo was an amazing cook and showed his love by feeding people. He would often be seen taking videos or pictures of his customers when they came in to eat. Although he would make it, he humorously hated it when customers ordered a hamburger! When he wasn’t cooking at the Taqueria you could find him scratching his lotto tickets hoping to win it big, tending to his vegetable garden that he would love to share with anyone who came to visit and caring for his chickens. He is known for his humor and was always willing to help anyone in need. His family was his world and was very affectionate with those he loved and although he was known as a strict father, to his granddaughter he was a sweetheart. Arturo had a way of making anyone feel welcomed and invited no matter what they were doing. He had a 20+ years passion for deer hunting and loved seeing the stars. If it was the right night and he could see Jupiter, he made sure everyone knew and came to see it as well. He also enjoyed watching La Selección Mexicana and Las Aguilas del America. He will be immensely missed and always loved by those that had the chance to know him.
He is preceded in death by his father Manuel Perez; siblings: Julia Cruz Perez, Martin Perez, and Maria Santa Perez.
He is survived by his loving wife Consuelo Perez; mother Delfina Cavarrubias; sons: Pedro Manuel Perez and Arturo Perez Jr.; granddaughter Aaliyah Perez as well as three brothers and 2 sisters.
