Anne Ring Obituary

Anne Kathleen (Russell) Ring, age 81, of Red Oak, Texas, passed away peacefully on December 9, 2024. Born on October 25, 1943 in Bridgeport, Connecticut, she was the beloved daughter of William Thomas Russell and Anne Theresa Strutinskas. Anne (who went by Kathy to many) attended two years of Catholic high school before graduating from Bassick High School in Bridgeport. After high school she proudly enlisted in the U.S. Army, where she served in finance, managing military payroll at Fort Sam Houston in San Antonio, Texas. It was there she met the love of her life, Linwood Russell Ring. They married on February 27, 1965 right before Linwood’s deployment. Anne returned to Bridgeport but was soon reunited with her husband in Augusta, Georgia where they began their family. Their union was blessed with two children, Christopher and Tracey. In 1978, the family settled in DeSoto, Texas. Anne worked in merchandising for the Army and Air Force Exchange Service (AAFES). After 22 years of dedicated service, she retired leaving a legacy of hard work and loyalty. Anne was known for her loving and caring nature, with an occasional stubborn streak. She didn’t enjoy cooking, but everyone always asked for her famous potato salad. She had a passion for travel, venturing to all 48 continental states—but never by plane. Whether in their van or camper, she and Linwood explored favorite destinations like San Francisco, the Grand Canyon, and Disney parks with their family. Their road trips sometimes included their five cherished grandchildren or annual family reunions in Pennsylvania. Anne’s legacy of love, adventure, and devotion will live on in the hearts of her family and all who were blessed to know her.

Anne is preceded in death by her parents William and Anne Russell.

She is survived by her devoted husband of nearly 60 years, Linwood Russell Ring; children: Christopher and wife Glenna Ring and Tracey and husband Thomas Engel; five grandchildren: Stefanie and husband Cody Monnette, Jacob Engel and wife Shavelle Seaman, Courtney Ring, Taylor Engel and partner Daniel Kim, Brittni and husband Dalton Murphy; great-grandson: Henry Monnette; brothers: Dennis and wife Judy Russell and William and partner Julie; sister-in-law Janet Charbonneau; cousin Lynn and husband Dave Dunn; as well as numerous nieces, nephews and extended family members and friends.
