Andrew Carl Matthews, Age 51 of Addison, Texas, passed away in his home on Thursday, October 22, 2020. He was born in December of 1968 in Farmington, New Mexico, the third of three children to Carl and Pat (Larsen) Matthews. He was a double-degree graduate of the University of Texas at Austin, and spent the majority of his career in the finance and healthcare industries.
Andrew was an avid lover of music, movies, and theater. He even spent several seasons onstage with the Phoenix Opera and the Dallas Opera as a supernumerary, and eventually found his way to the Turtle Creek Chorale family where he sung as a second Tenor. His love of food and cooking was also very well known, and he dearly loved collecting recipes and vintage cookbooks.
In late 2014 Andrew met Shawn Michael Currey, the person he would end up spending the rest of his life with, and in February 2017 they were married. Together they enjoyed many road trips, vacations, and restaurants, many of his favorite memories were of his times spent in Disneyland and Walt Disney World where they spent their honeymoon.
He is preceded in death by his father Carl, and is survived by his loving and devoted husband Shawn, his mother Pat, sister Jen with her fiance Kevin, brother Chris with his wife Leigh, nieces Mary Rose and Jessica, nephew Austin, and many friends and chosen family beyond count (some going back as far as 46 years). He will be terribly missed by everyone.
Memorial Contributions may be made in Andrew’s honor to any of the organizations to which he was affiliated through the years, but especially to the Turtle Creek Chorale where he was met and embraced as a brother.
Service will be 11 AM Saturday, November 7, 2020 at Green Funeral Home, with virtual streaming through Facebook Live. For those attending in person, please be responsible with any symptoms and wear a mask.
