Obituary

Alvin Tucker, 59, passed away peacefully in his camper on March 9, 2023, in Red Oak, TX. Alvin was preceded in death by his parents Cleo and Annie Bee Tucker and the true love of his life, his dog Crash.

Alvin is survived by his three sisters: Joyce (Tim) Cogburn, Marie Tucker, Rachel (Philip) Casebolt; two nephews: John (Amanda) Henderson, James (Carissa) Henderson; four nieces: Lisa Henderson, Melissa Riggs, Erika Migchelbrink, Jessi Balagtas; five great nephews: Chase Wroten, Dillon Riggs, Tyler Henderson, John Michael Henderson, Wyatt Henderson; countless friends, and the dog that was his heart and soul, Emma.

Alvin Tucker was a free spirit with the most contagious smile. He treasured living a simple life and was never one to be confined to any location for too long. Despite serving as a mentor to many, the van-lifers of today simply can’t hold a candle to his ability to roam the country and live in the moment. For most, it wasn’t surprising to accidentally bump into Alvin in a random city, state, concert, or Renaissance Faire. And if you did, you would be guaranteed a wild and fun adventure with at least one of his partners in crime, either Crash or Emma, his most beloved dogs and favorite travel buddies.

Alvin learned to love nature, serving his neighbors, and cooking from both of his parents. Ever need a helping hand? You can bet that Alvin was there. Whether he was rescuing drenched and lost backpackers, climbing on random roofs, opening his home to those in need, or saving tons of recyclable material from going into landfills, Alvin was a giver with a heart of gold.

Some of his best gifts came in the forms of stories. And when he shared his adventures of being the youngest of three sisters or traveling the country, his face would light up as pure joy and laughter emanated from the incredible smile he was known for! Help us keep Alvin’s smile and story alive by sharing your favorite Alvin stories with us. While no memorial service is immediately planned, the family will notify loved ones in the future when a service is scheduled. In the meantime, please honor his lifelong love of the planet by planting a tree in his memory through the Arbor Day Foundation www.shop.arborday.org/commemorative-trees-in-memory Maybe one day a young hiker and their dog will come trekking through Alvin’s woods and find the inspiration to let go of societal expectations and instead focus on living a life of freedom and passion and kindness, just like Alvin.
