Alberta "Berta" Tolpo

Alberta "Berta" Marie Guillory Tolpo, 85, of Beaumont, passed away peacefully at her home on the morning of Monday September 12, 2022. She was born October 19, 1937 in Mowata, Louisiana, the oldest child of Mary LeJeune Guillory and Abel Guillory. In her younger years, she excelled on the Eunice High School's basketball team. Berta felt a
strong connection to her Cajun roots. She spoke French with her mother, father and sisters; learned to cook some of the best dishes from her Cajun families' recipes; crawfish etouffee,
shrimp gumbo, and jambalaya. In addition to cooking, Berta enjoyed spending many summers at Crystal Beach with her family and friends.
Berta was a graduate of Hotel Dieu School of Nursing in Beaumont and was a Registered Nurse. She spent much of her nursing career at Beaumont Medical and Surgical Hospital, now Baptist
Hospital Beaumont. Beginning as an emergency room nurse where she then obtained the position of manager of nurses for many years until her retirement in 2015.
Berta was a faithful member of St. Anne Catholic Church where she regularly attended Sunday mass. She loved her friends and family, and filled her home with warmth and kindness. She will
be remembered as a kind, strong and an infinitely patient person.

Survivors include her children: Cristina Cramer and husband Owen, Erik Tolpo, Niels Tolpo and Alex Tolpo;  grandchildren: Erika Tolpo, Amanda Tolpo, Matt Tolpo, and Adaire Cramer; sisters: Janelle Andrus, Pam LaFleur and husband Bobby;  father of her children Norman Tolpo, godchild Jeanne Marie Brocato Parker and a host of family and friends.

She is preceded in death by her parents; aunts: Idell Guillory and Susan Guillory and brother-in-law Dillard Andrus.

The family would like to thank Brenda Leday and Alice Thomas for their kind and compassionate care of Berta these past few months.

Funeral Mass will be held on September 23, 2022 at 11:00 AM with inurnment to follow at St. Lawrence Catholic Church: 29031 Crowley-Eunice Hwy., Mowata, LA. Burial will follow in the St. Lawrence Cemetery in Mowata, LA.
