Adelaida Velasquez, age 69, of Dallas, Texas, passed away on September 26th, 2024. Born on June 22nd, 1955, in Monterrey, Nuevo León, Mexico, Adelaida was a beacon of light and joy to all who knew her.
Adelaida faced early challenges with the loss of her mother, but she found strength and love in her family, who raised her with care. As a young woman, she embraced the joys and responsibilities of family life, raising four wonderful children with unwavering dedication. Her independent spirit led her to ensuring her family's well-being and fostering a work ethic that inspired those around her.
An upbeat and friendly soul, Adelaida was deeply devoted to her faith and became an active member of her church community. She cherished attending senior luncheons, where she made countless friends and shared laughter and love. Adelaida had a green thumb and found great joy in gardening, nurturing her plants with the same care she extended to her beloved pets. Known for her kindness, she always fed stray animals, bringing comfort and companionship into her life.
Family gatherings were a hallmark of Adelaida’s warm spirit, especially during the holidays. She hosted memorable Thanksgiving and Christmas celebrations, where her famous Christmas tamales became a cherished tradition. Adelaida’s love for her grandchildren was boundless, and she took immense joy in being a part of their lives, creating lasting memories filled with love and laughter.
Adelaida is preceded in death by her mother Esperanza Hernandez.
She is survived by her children: Vicente Jr. and wife Laura Velasquez of Fort Worth, Claudia and husband Eloy Torres of Lancaster, Jorge Velasquez of Arlington, and Juan Velasquez of Dallas; her grandchildren: Jacob Torres, Layla Torres, Andrew Velasquez, and Abagail Velasquez; and the father of her children, Vicente Velasquez Sr.
