David E. John, age 63, a former resident of Ferris, Texas, passed away August 29, 2019. He was born in January of 1956 to the late James W. and Norma (Ellis) John in Dallas, Texas. He attended W.W. Samuel High School, after which he joined the Navy and later working on off shore oil rigs before returning to Dallas. He worked for SMU for the Physical Plant, doing maintenance work all over the campus until he began work at the Waxahachie Civic Center where he served until his retirement. On March first of this year, he married his love Peggy on the beach of Galveston, Texas. David adored riding his Harley Davidson trike, he and Peggy loved to travel all over the US in their custom fifth wheel travel trailer and truck. He is remembered by all who knew him as being funny with a crazy sense of humor, his generosity and outgoing kind nature. For the past 15 years he was Santa to an uncounted number of children and adults. He was a member of the Lone Star Santa's, International Brotherhood of Real Bearded Santa's and Texas State Santa's. He will be missed by all who knew him.
He is preceded in death by his parents; two wives; son David Joseph John and brother Charles John.
Survivors include loving wife Peggy John of Campbell, Texas; daughter Amy Adams; Peggy's children: Jason and wife Valeri Moore, Holly Moore and Tucker Moore; three grandchildren: Addy Adams, Desiree John and D'Angelo Jordan Kelley; siblings: Bobby and Judy John of Houston, Vicki and husband Scote Cole of Greenville, Michael and Tammy John of Rockwall and Michelle John of Mabelvale, Arkansas; as well as numerous nieces, nephews and other extended family and friends.
A Celebration of Life will be 11:00 AM Saturday, September 14, 2019 at Patrick Baptist Church: 2006 Parkinson Road, Ferris, Texas 75125, Pastor Thomas Barber officiating.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Lone Star Santa's or to the Wounded Warrior's Project.
